This is a lighting exercise in Form-Z, done for my ID Computing II class (ID 3104 B) in the spring of 2007. Besides modeling the chess pieces, the assignment required setting up three lights for the scene: back, fill, and key lights. This technique, three-point lighting, is intended to fully illuminate the subject, eliminating harsh shadows while retaining the subject's three-dimensionality.
